About Avéli Cellulite Treatment

Avéli cellulite treatment is a minimally invasive treatment that can restore a smoother look and feel to areas like your thighs, legs, and buttocks. This treatment targets the root cause of cellulite by severing the fibrous septae beneath your skin. These are the fibrous cords that tether the skin downward, creating a dimpled or depressed appearance on its surface. Avéli is the first and only technology designed to reduce the number of septae, and it can identify and release the bands with targeted precision. With Avéli, you can improve the appearance of your cellulite with just a single treatment, so that you can feel confident in your own skin again.

About Cellulite

Cellulite is a skin condition that creates a nodulated look and feel to the skin, which people often compare to an orange peel or cottage cheese. This condition is very common and primarily affects women, with up to 80% to 90% of women developing it. (1) Cellulite occurs when your layers of fat start to thicken and expand outward, but your fibrous septae continue holding your skin inward. (2) While cellulite is a harmless and painless condition, it can significantly affect how one feels about themselves and their appearance, prompting them to seek effective treatment.

Candidates

You may be an ideal candidate for Avéli if you are interested in addressing stubborn cellulite around your thighs, legs, and buttocks. You should possess good general health and maintain realistic expectations regarding your results. You should be nonsmoking or willing to quit using nicotine. It is also important that you have good skin elasticity, as this is what will allow your skin to retract to your natural contours and curves. Your specialist will finalize your candidacy during your consultation.

Personal Consultation

Your personal consultation serves as a great opportunity to learn more about Avéli and how it can help you. During this consultation, your specialist will meet with you individually to discuss your medical history, areas of concern, and treatment goals. They will also perform a physical evaluation to assess the quality and condition of your skin. Your specialist will then use these elements to create a personalized solution that addresses your concerns.

To schedule this consultation, please contact us online or call (973) 822-3000 to reach either our Florham Park or Somerville office.

Preparation

Once you have scheduled your treatment, your specialist will give you a set of comprehensive instructions to ensure you understand how to prepare. These instructions are straightforward, but you must follow each one for the best possible results. Your specialist may instruct you to:

  • Refrain from taking any medications or supplements that may thin your blood.
  • Stop using nicotine several weeks in advance.
  • Prepare to take some time away from your career and commitments.
  • Refrain from consuming any alcohol in the days before and after your treatment.
  • Pre-arrange transportation to and from your appointment.

Procedure

Our specialists perform each Avéli treatment in our office. Our specialists take approximately one hour to complete each treatment, but the exact timing of your procedure will vary depending on your personalized treatment plan. Your specialist will perform this treatment using local anesthesia, but you may discuss other numbing options with them if you are more sensitive to pain.

Your specialist will place an incision near the treatment area before inserting a thin instrument. They will use this instrument to release the fibrous septae beneath your skin, allowing the overlying skin to smooth out. Once they address the entire treatment area, they will carefully suture the incision shut.

Recovery

After your treatment, you may experience some swelling, bruising, or tenderness to the touch. These effects are temporary and will subside on their own shortly after, but you may also manage them using a cold compress or over-the-counter medications. You will need to rest for 1–2 days to avoid irritation, but you will be able to return to most of your daily activities after this. However, you will need to continue avoiding physically demanding or strenuous activities until your specialist has cleared you to return. Your specialist will provide you with any additional recovery information during your personal consultation.

Results

You will be able to experience the results of your Avéli cellulite treatment after your temporary side effects subside. Your skin will look and feel more even and clear as it relaxes and smooths itself out. You may also notice improvements in the definition of your contours around the treated areas.

The effects of Avéli are long-lasting, with many of our patients experiencing visible improvements for up to a year. It is important to understand that cellulite is a chronic condition, and you will need future maintenance treatments to preserve your results.

FAQ

What is cellulite?

Cellulite is a skin condition that creates a dimpled appearance, often across the thighs and buttocks. It is caused by the fibrous bands beneath the skin, which pull on the skin and cause the surrounding fat to bulge out. This results in the depressed look that cellulite is characterized by. How does Avéli cellulite treatment work?

Avéli works by releasing the fibrous tissue bands beneath your skin that lead to the uneven appearance. By addressing these bands, the skin can smooth itself out.
