Add Volume to the Mid-Face, Smooth Folds, and More with This Dermal Filler Collection in New Jersey

As a person’s skin ages and loses volume, it’s common to consider options for helping it regain and retain a more vital look. Medical science has developed numerous products and procedures to help with this, including nonsurgical treatments that can restore a natural youthfulness to the skin. Juvéderm® at New Jersey’s The Peer Group is one of the most popular options.

Juvéderm® fillers can be used to address volume loss or deep lines and wrinkles, and can even be used for hand rejuvenation.

What Is Juvéderm®?

Juvéderm® is not a single treatment, but is a family of injectable dermal filler products. Each filler in the line is made with hyaluronic acid, which is found naturally in the skin and is responsible for maintaining volume, elasticity, and hydration.

Unfortunately for anyone who enjoys a youthful-looking face, the process that regularly replenishes hyaluronic acid molecules as they break down in the skin slows over time. The same slowdown happens to collagen production, leading to a reduction in the protein that gives skin its structure, flexible strength, and fullness.

As collagen and hyaluronic acid levels drop—along with elastin levels—the skin dries out and thins. This volume loss can cause nasolabial folds and other lines to appear on the lower face, hollows to form in the mid-face, lips to thin, and other changes.

Juvéderm® brings volume back. The hyaluronic acid-based gel fills out depleted areas in the skin, which results in a smoother surface, fuller and rounder contours, plumper lips, and more.

What Sets the Various Juvéderm® Fillers Apart?

Juvéderm®

Juvéderm® is the original product in this family of fillers, designed for addressing smile lines and other wrinkles and folds around the nose and mouth.

Juvéderm® Ultra

Ultra is used to add extra fullness and volume to areas that have greater volume depletion. This may be a good solution for people who have experienced volume loss as a result of aging.

Juvéderm Voluma®

Voluma® is designed specifically for the cheeks. The injectable can enhance facial volume, rounding out the face to produce a more youthful appearance while adding a subtle lift. Providing better structural support in the cheeks can even reduce jowling farther down on the face.

Juvéderm Volbella®

Volbella® is designed for lip augmentation. It can also be used to correct fine lines around the lips, which can make the mouth area—and entire face—appear older.

Juvéderm® Treatment Details

An initial consultation with one of The Peer Group’s physicians comes first. This is so the injector can learn about you, you can learn more about the options, and together you can establish which treatment—Juvéderm® or otherwise—would be best for you.

Many people over the years have described injections as feeling like tiny pinches. Even so, there are two factors that further improve patient comfort during these treatments at The Peer Group. First, we topically apply or inject an anesthetic to reduce sensation in the skin. Second, the fillers in the Juvéderm® family contain a small amount of lidocaine, which also acts to numb things.

How many injections will be required? That depends on the degree of correction desired, as well as where on the face the treatment is focusing. Each appointment is different, but patients should expect the injection session to take less than 30 minutes.

Juvéderm® Recovery and Results

Minor bruising, swelling, and sensitivity may be noticeable for a few days after a Juvéderm® treatment—or any injectables. With this in mind, patients are encouraged to return to their usual activities when they feel comfortable. Many people get back to work, social appointments, and more directly after their treatment session.

Since the injections add volume, there will be a noticeable change right away. Keep in mind that the new look will change after a few days, once the initial swelling fades.

Each product has a different duration, with results that last between six months and two years. Once your body has metabolized the Juvéderm®, more can be added via new injections.

What Treatments Are Available to Address Other Signs of Facial Aging?

Like Juvéderm®, the RHA® Revance Restylane®  collections are made up of hyaluronic acid-based gels that can be applied in different and unique ways to shape facial contours, “fill in” folds and creases, and more.

Neuromodulators like BOTOX®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, and Jeuveau take a different approach: using botulinum toxin to safely relax the muscles that cause lines to appear when they contract. Primarily used to target wrinkles on the upper third of the face, these injectables pair well with fillers to address multiple types of signs of aging simultaneously.
