Botox
Consultations offered at our two convenient locations in Florham Park, NJ and Somerville, NJ

Botox (Botox®) is an injectable that relaxes the facial muscles to smooth wrinkles and achieve a more youthful-looking appearance. Botox is a neuromodulator, meaning it disrupts the neurotransmitters responsible for repeated muscle contractions that result in wrinkles. (1) By addressing the muscles directly responsible, Botox not only reduces the appearance of fine lines and creases more effectively, but simultaneously prevents them, too, acting as a form of ‘prejuvenation’.
At The Peer Group, our experienced injectors are highly trained in administering Botox treatments with precision and care. They undergo continuous education to stay up-to-date with the latest techniques and safety standards, ensuring natural-looking results tailored to each patient’s unique facial anatomy and aesthetic goals.

About Botox
Botox is a minimally invasive treatment that can reduce and prevent the appearance of fine lines, creases, and wrinkles through the use of a neurotoxin called botulinum toxin A. When administered, this compound blocks the release of acetylcholine, the neurotransmitter responsible for facial muscle contractions. (2) Neuromodulators, such as Botox, have become highly popular and were the most performed minimally invasive cosmetic procedure in the country during 2023. Neuromodulators were administered more than 9.48 million times that year alone, a 9% increase compared to the year before. (3)

Candidates
Botox appeals to a wide range of candidates due to its high safety profile and patient satisfaction rate. Suitable candidates for Botox include anyone interested in reducing the appearance of wrinkles, creases, and fine lines to achieve a more youthful-looking appearance. All candidates interested in Botox should be in good overall health and hold realistic expectations regarding what they can achieve. Our specialists will determine each patient’s eligibility for treatment during their personal consultation.
Personal Consultation
The first step to a more youthful look is attending a personal consultation. This consultation is not only a chance for our team to get to know each patient more, but also to learn how we can help them achieve their goals. One of our specialists will meet with each patient and ask about their medical history, current medications, concerns, and desired results while also evaluating the condition of their skin.

Preparation
Preparation for Botox is fairly straightforward, as this treatment is minimally invasive. In any case, we provide each patient with a set of guidelines during their personal consultation to help them prepare.
Patients will likely be asked to discontinue the use of certain medications and supplements, particularly any with blood-thinning properties. Alcohol consumption, nicotine use, and harsh or heavy skincare products should be avoided for several days before and after treatment. Patients are also advised to stay hydrated and avoid unprotected sun exposure or sun damage.
Procedure
Patients should arrive at their Botox injection appointment with a clean face, free of any makeup or skincare products. Treatment begins with the cleansing and sanitization of the patient’s skin. A topical anesthetic may be applied to help manage any discomfort, but this step is not always necessary, as most patients find this procedure well-tolerated. Your injection specialist will then carefully administer premeasured doses of Botox into various areas of the face and neck, targeting muscles that are prone to more contractions and movement.
In total, this treatment takes less than 15 minutes to perform, which is why it is often referred to as a “lunchtime treatment,” allowing patients to schedule their treatment in the middle of their day without any significant disruption to their regular routines.
Recovery
Recovery for Botox is minimal, allowing patients to return to their daily activities almost immediately. It is common to experience light redness, swelling, and tenderness near the injection sites, but these effects will dissipate on their own within several hours. Patients will need to avoid rubbing, touching, or putting pressure on treated areas following their appointment, as well as refrain from physical or high-intensity activities for 24-48 hours. We will provide further instructions on what products or activities to avoid after your injections.
Results
The results of Botox injections will become more apparent several days after the initial treatment, with the full effects appearing approximately a week later as it takes effect. Targeted wrinkles will soften as the muscles relax, leaving patients with a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance. The effects of Botox can last for approximately 3-4 months before results begin to fade. After this, patients are welcome to schedule a touch-up treatment.

Scar and Stretch Mark Revision
We offer scar and stretch mark revision for patients interested in addressing various skin imperfections. Scar and stretch mark treatments are designed to enhance collagen levels to reduce scarring, uneven skin texturing, and pigmentation, leaving the skin smoother and more radiant. We offer both microneedling and camouflage tattooing to address various skin concerns.
- Microneedling: Microneedling is a skin resurfacing treatment that creates hundreds of micropunctures in the skin to stimulate the body’s natural healing response. This triggers collagen synthesis, which helps improve the texture, tone, and overall quality of each patient’s skin. This treatment is minimally invasive and offers gradual, yet long-lasting, results.
- Camouflage Tattooing: Camouflage tattooing is a specialized form of tattooing that uses medical-grade pigments to reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks. Our specialists can carefully match the pigment to each patient’s skin tone, offering a smoother complexion and immediate results.
