Colin L. Failey, M.D.
Dr. Failey is fully trained in the broad art of plastic surgery and has learned the most current techniques for producing natural-looking surgical and non-surgical aesthetic rejuvenation. He thoroughly enjoys the opportunity to enhance each patient’s inherent beauty through the careful selection of individualized treatments. He has the expertise and technical skill necessary to perform an array of cosmetic procedures on the face, breast, and body, including breast augmentation, breast reduction, tummy tucks, liposuction/body contouring, eyelid surgery, facelifts, and rhinoplasty. He may also recommend and personally administer Botox and injectable fillers like Juvederm and Restylane.
Dr. Failey finds equal fulfillment in the time he spends counseling patients who require breast reconstruction following partial or complete mastectomy. His training in both general and plastic surgery allows him to empathize with the patient throughout the course of their treatment and help guide them through the process. Dr. Failey is able to offer his patients the full spectrum of breast reconstructive procedures, from implant-based options to microvascular free-TRAM or DIEP flaps which utilize one’s own abdominal tissues to restore the breast.
Dr. Failey received his medical degree from Albany Medical College and went on to complete an intensive six-year general surgery program at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. His passion for plastic surgery led him to dedicate one full year of this training to research where he investigated methods to speed and improve wound healing in an NIH-funded laboratory. His efforts culminated with a coveted spot in the plastic surgery training program at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas.
This past year, Dr. Failey was proud to participate in Operation San Jose, which organized a mission trip to Guayaquil, Ecuador to help repair congenital facial deformities in infants and children. He was also first author on a research paper, accepted for publication in the esteemed Aesthetic Surgery Journal, that documented the excellent outcomes that can be achieved when total IV sedation is utilized in an office-based operating room.
