Laser Hair Removal
Our Cutera CoolGlide® laser safely and effectively removes unwanted hair on the face and body. Facial hair of the lip, chin and sideburns are most commonly requested. Underarms, bikini areas and nipples are other popular areas for laser epilation, or permanent hair removal. CoolGlide® can permanently remove hair from all skin types and tanned skin with no down time. The CoolGlide® laser utilizes a chilled hand piece that reduces the stinging sensation. No anesthesia is required, but some patients like a topical numbing cream. Most areas targeted for hair removal require three to six treatments to permanently reduce the number of hair follicles that are actively growing hair. As dormant follicles grow new hair, they are removed with successive laser treatments. Typically, treatments are spaced four to six weeks apart.
ProWave™ is used for hair reduction on larger areas of the body, such as the back or legs. ProWave has a larger chilled hand piece and treats all skin types quickly and safely, eliminating the need for anesthesia. Four to six laser treatments are usually necessary for permanent removal of unwanted hair, and are spaced about four to six weeks apart.

Vein Therapy
Our Cutera CoolGlide® laser can make unsightly veins of the face and body disappear. Patients with all skin tones can be treated, and Cutera CoolGlide can also reduce or eliminate blood blisters and port wine stains. The cold tip on the laser hand piece minimizes discomfort. Superficial facial veins and mid-depth spider veins on the face or body are most frequently targeted for removal. Typically, one or two treatments are needed for the face and two or three treatments are needed for the legs to eliminate dilated veins. Following treatment, the face may be a little pink for an hour or so. The leg veins are usually pink for a day or two after these anti-aging skin care procedures. Occasionally, tan pigment can be seen following leg vein treatment and can last for several weeks as the body absorbs the treated vein. Following treatment most normal activities can be resumed immediately and exercise can be started in a day.
LimeLight for Brown Spots and Red Areas
LimeLite Facial™ is a light based treatment that removes brown pigmentation that comes from sun damage from the face, neck and chest. It offers dramatic results for removing brown spots and red spots from the hands and arms as well. LimeLite Facial™ is also useful in removing red areas caused by broken capillaries and rosacea. Treatments are done with a cool gel, and the hand piece is also chilled to minimize discomfort. Two to three of the light based skin care treatments, lasting from one half to one hour are typically needed, depending on the areas to be treated. There is no postoperative down time; some mild redness may occur but fades in a few hours. Following this non-invasive cosmetic therapy, the brown spots on the skin darken and fade in a week or two. Once the complexion has cleared, it’s important to utilize sun protection to prevent further sun damage to your skin. Prescription strength sun block and other skin care products from the Peer Skin Center can prolong the benefits of your LimeLite Facial therapy.
The Pearl™ Procedure
The Cutera laser system, available here at our plastic surgery center in the Short Hills and Morristown, northern New Jersey area, provides a safe and effective treatment for restoring the skin’s natural beauty. Pearl™ reduces wrinkles, uneven texture and sun damage with fewer treatments and less recovery time than other available treatments. The Pearl produces a healthy glow to the complexion with the combination of two effects: The skin’s surface is treated with laser light for resurfacing, while heat is delivered to the deeper layers to firm and tighten the skin. A natural dressing is formed on the skin, which washes off in a few days to reveal smoother healthier skin beneath. The normal down time for this laser skin rejuvenation procedure is three to four days. Usually one or two treatments, spaced one month apart, are needed to achieve optimal results. Patients with light to medium skin tones who have mild to moderate sun damage are ideal candidates for Pearl™ resurfacing skin care.
New Anti-Aging Breakthrough… Pearl™ Fractional Laser
Pearl™ Fractional is a new, fractional, single treatment laser designed to improve imperfections due to aging and sun damage. Fractional therapy describes a treatment that affects only a small percentage, or fraction, of the skin. With, Pearl™ Fractional, the laser pulses treat damaged cells deep in the skin. The laser’s action shortens the healing time while stimulating the body’s own process for creating collagen. The skin is rejuvenated from below, reversing photo aging and other imperfections. In addition to treating the entire face, Pearl™ Fractional laser is uniquely effective in treating the delicate area around the eyes and around the mouth, which often first show the signs of aging and can be challenging to treat. The Titan™ Procedure
Titan™ technology uses infrared light to heat the deep layers of the skin to achieve tightening and firming of facial and body skin. Cooling of the surface prevents damage to this outer skin layer, eliminating down time. The most common areas for treatment are the neck, face and abdomen. Other areas of skin laxity such as elbows and knees can also be treated. A topical anesthetic is applied one hour before the treatment. The Titan heats then cools the skin in a series of pulses, each lasting a few seconds. Immediately following a treatment mild redness and swelling are present. This disappears in a few hours and the skin then gradually tightens as new collagen is formed. Noticeable results can be achieved in one treatment. However 2-3 treatments spaced one month apart are needed for optimal results with loose skin.
Laser Genesis
Our Laser Genesis system uses non-invasive laser light to safely treat fine wrinkles, large pores, uneven skin texture, redness, and scars, restoring a smooth skin texture. This cosmetic procedure produces a warming sensation of the skin, but topical anesthetics are not needed. Mild redness may occur following Laser Genesis skin care treatments, but subsides within a few hours. Commonly treated areas are the nose, cheeks and neck. Laser Genesis diminishes pore size and lessens or eliminates sun damage. Rosacea also responds well to Laser Genesis. With each treatment the redness is lessened. Four to six laser treatments are needed to achieve optimal results and provide the full benefits of this skin care therapy.
