Body Lift
The Contoured Body
Individuals who have undergone significant weight loss can achieve their aesthetic goals for a slim, contoured frame with body lift procedures offered by The Peer Group’s cosmetic plastic surgeons , serving Far Hills, Millburn, Morristown and the entire northern New Jersey area. A body lift eliminates excess fat, folds, and loose hanging skin to provide you with a more sculpted appearance. Photographs of body lift patients taken before and after plastic surgery illustrate the potential results. There are four types of body lift plastic surgery:
Upper Body Lift
This type of body lift typically addresses areas such as the arms and breasts. Excess skin and fat are removed through discreet incisions. After the excess is eliminated, the areas of skin are pulled taut to create a more firm appearance to the arms and breasts, with less sagging and drooping.
Lower Body Lift
The lower body lift procedure addresses areas such as the hips, buttocks, and thighs. An incision is made along the waist and down to the inner thighs. Excess tissue and fat are removed and the skin of the area is tightened to create a more fit look to the lower body region.
Mid-Body Lift
Mid-body lift addresses the abdomen in addition to the thighs, buttocks, and hips, creating a firm contour from the stomach area down to the thighs. A waistline incision is made, continuing across the abdomen and down to the thighs. The abdominal muscles area pulled taut and excess fat and skin in the lower region are removed. The skin in these areas is then tightened, creating a flatter stomach and a firm lower body.
Total (Circumferential) Body Lift
This body contouring cosmetic procedure addresses virtually every part of the body affected by loose, excess skin and fat. These include the breasts, arms, abdomen, thighs, hips, and buttocks. A total body lift involves an incision spanning the entire circumference of the body around the waistline. The body lift surgeon removes excess tissue and fat in all the areas being addressed, and tightens the skin to form a more contoured look for the entire body. Total body lift procedures are useful for patients who have experienced massive weight loss and are affected by loose, overhanging skin in a range of body areas.
Body Lift Recovery
Patients should expect significant amounts of recovery time after body lift plastic surgery procedures, particularly total body lifts. Total body lift patients may need six weeks or more to fully recover, and patients should strictly follow all of our doctor’s post-operative instructions. There will be some visible scarring after body lift treatment; however, they should fade with time and our cosmetic surgeons will work diligently to ensure that any scars resulting from incisions are very discreet and can be easily hidden under clothing.
