Restore Fuller, Shapelier Eyebrows in New Jersey

Not everyone has naturally bold, dark, and youthful-looking eyebrows that define their face. Aside from thin eyebrows due to genetics, hair loss on one or both eyebrows can occur due to many causes, including infections, skin conditions, clogged pores, hormonal changes, nutritional deficiencies, emotional stress, physical trauma, and an overactive immune system. Instead of constantly having to use gels, pencils, and other products to camouflage sparse eyebrows every day, microblading from New Jersey’s The Peer Group is a long-lasting technique that can create the look of beautifully balanced and full eyebrows while saving time and effort.

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a cosmetic tattoo treatment that gives patients the appearance of thicker, fuller, more even brows. This treatment is a longer-lasting solution when compared to other methods used to create the look of fuller brows, such as applying makeup.

What Does Microblading Involve?

We prepare patients for microblading by first cleaning up and threading the area, then numbing it with a topical ointment. During the microblading session itself, tiny “hairs” are manually tattooed onto the skin beneath the eyebrows with a small, pen-like tool. The handheld microblading device features 10 to 12 very fine needles, which make delicate hair-like strokes in the epidermis to add pigmentation that disguises the bare skin. The lines are made with precision to look very natural.

The treatment is fully customized for each patient. At The Peer Group, we can create a style that is best suited for a patient’s face shape and choose a color that goes with the natural hair color and skin tone. Eyebrow design is based on several factors, including face shape, symmetry, and the position and proportions of the facial features. The procedure lasts between 30 to 40 minutes, though it might take up to a few hours for some patients’ first treatment.

What is Recovery Like After Microblading?

It takes around 25 to 30 days for the eyebrows to heal, during which patients may experience some mild irritation, tenderness, discomfort, color changes, and flakiness. Sunscreen is the most critical aspect of aftercare following a microblading treatment, because it prevents the newly made lines from fading due to sun exposure.

Don’t use Retin-A or retinol skin products for about a week prior to the treatment or about 30 days following the treatment, as these products increase the risk of the brows fading prematurely. Patients should also avoid sun exposure from artificial sources or sunlight for two weeks before the procedure. We will provide other preparation and aftercare instructions.

What Results Can I Expect from Microblading?

Patients will notice fuller brows as soon as this treatment is over, but the ideal results become noticeable within about 30 days and should last for between 12 to 18 months, depending on the patient’s skin type. The treatment impacts only the surface layer of the skin (unlike actual tattooing), so patients will need repeat treatments to maintain the look. Microblading doesn’t cause any lasting scarring or discoloration.
