Spider Vein Treatment with Cutera CoolGlide Laser

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

We’ve been blogging about the tremendous impact laser technology has had on cosmetic medicine and skin care in recent years. The applications, and the effectiveness and safety of these non -invasive cosmetic plastic surgery procedures are nothing short of miraculous. Today plastics surgeons routinely use cosmetic lasers for a variety of skin care treatments, from eradicating wrinkles to permanently removing hair. In our last blog we talked about the Cutera CoolGlide, which is especially effective at removing hair on facial areas, the underarms, and bikini line areas. Well, the CoolGlide has another application that has revolutionized an area of cosmetic medicine in its own right: removing unsightly veins on the face and body.

Spider veins and capillaries are not only unsightly, but in some cases they can be unhealthy. Superficial facial veins and mid-depth spider veins on the face or body are the areas plastic surgeons target most frequently with the CoolGlide. Blood blisters and port wine stains can also be eliminated. The CoolGlide is effective on people with all skin tones. As with its hair removal application, the cold tip on the laser hand piece minimizes discomfort and virtually eliminates the need for anesthetics.

Following treatment most normal activities can be resumed immediately and exercise can be started in a day. The face may be slightly pink for an hour or so and the leg veins are usually pink for a day or two after these anti-aging skin care procedures. Typically, one or two treatments are needed for the face and two or three treatments are needed for the legs to eliminate dilated veins. Occasionally, tan pigment can be seen following leg vein treatment and can last for several weeks as the body absorbs the treated vein.

We recommend consulting a board certified plastic surgeon or skin care professional before undertaking any cosmetic procedure. If you live in Livingston, Millburn, Florham Park or anywhere in northern New Jersey, we invite you to schedule a consultation with one The Peer Group’s board certified plastic surgeons to discuss how we can help you meet your aesthetic goals.
